Library News: Book Week - Love Is In The Air, Part 2

Abanti Antara —

"Love is in the Air" book week in the library was blast with lots of fun and laughs and the librarians’ displays and decorations received a lot of attention.

Thank you, Casey Reid (Head Librarian), for the effort and extra time you have contributed for book week events.

As well as promoting books, we also ran competitions with lots of chocolate for prizes. The library hosted kahoots, colouring competitions, and guess the book competition. The winners of the colouring competition were: Rata Shaw, Siale Kula, Lily Thomas, Holly Hance, Ang O’Bell and Kalo Siale. The guess of the book was quite tricky, and it was great to see students trying to answer it correctly. Hawwa Niyaz, Toni Philpott and Siale Kula won this competition.

We were very happy to have the dressing up competition this year where both students and staff participated. Students and staff came along in different dress ups and took photos and during lunch time we had a parade lead by our student librarians through the love tunnel.

The theme costume categories where: a 'couples' costume (ie: Romeo and Juliet), book characters and Love is in the Air.

Students were competitive and it was difficult to decide the winners. Student dress up winners were:

  • Apollo Ferry and Lily Stott (book character),
  • Noella Ronquillo (science fiction book character)
  • Meg Brophy and Jasmine Glennie (couples) and,
  • Charlotte Cotton and Gabriella Eastgate (love themed costume).

The winners for our lovely staff were Mrs Cecelia Jardine-King, Mrs Jo Matla and Miss Jocelyn Rattray (book character) and the English Department won the department competition.

A special thanks to our senior management and support staff team who also bought the book week vibe to their work areas.
