Wellies for Wellbeing
This Sunday, Te Kura o Hine Waiora students are walking 10km around Hagley Park, alongside 9 other High Schools from across Ōtautahi, to unite for mental health awareness.
This event also serves as a fundraising campaign for 'I am Hope', which is a charity that does amazing mahi by providing free and timely counselling for rangatahi.
Our reasons for doing this event is that growing up in Canterbury and facing so many challenges, we see and feel firsthand the struggles faced by our young people. We feel we desperately need to stomp the stigma for asking for help and get vocal to normalise mental health discussion.
Having 150 students from all over Christchurch participating it is clear how passionate rangatahi are about supporting each other and the need for change.
You can support this kaupapa by donating to our give-a-little page (https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/wellies-for-wellness), showing up on Sunday morning if you are a CGHS/TKoHW student, or raising awareness and support in any way you can in your community.
