Qualification: NCEA Level 1

Entry requirements: Year 10 German.

Content/Skills: This course builds on vocabulary and structures from previous years. The four language skills are further developed by studying the following topics: clothing, descriptions, schools, travel, foods, home, going out, town and shopping. The focus is on practical communicative skills in authentic situations as well as cultural background. All language skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking are developed.

Field Trips: We have a German Tour planned in 2025. This is exciting as Covid put a stop to overseas trips, but finally we are able to start these up again. Here students will be able to visit Germany, Austria, Switzerland and a few days in Paris.

There are stationery costs associated with this course.

Assessment: Internal Achievement Standards: 5 credits in total  (Comprising of speaking and writing)

External Achievement Standards: 10 credits in total. (Comprising of a listening and a reading section)
