Library 2019

Lauren Tucker and Lea Passchier —

The amazing team of student librarians work with Miss Rattray and Mrs Earnshaw to keep the library running smoothly and tidily.

There are many responsibilities that the student librarians have, such as swapping out book displays, issuing books to other students and returning books to their rightful places on the shelves. This year there were a lot of students that signed up to be student librarians which was very exciting, just over 80! There were many badges that were earned this year, which is fantastic as it shows the dedication and service that the students have to the library.

Book Week is a highly anticipated time in the library; a time when the library gets a fabulous makeover, decorated by the student librarian team. Costumes are also worn according to the theme of the week, ranging from the wacky to the wonderful, teachers are also included! This year the theme was Myths and Legends, and the library was transformed into a mystical forest with twisted trees and a dragon protecting the front desk! The student librarians had lots of fun making props such as the dragon, and the making of the leaves for the trees.

Book Week isn’t the only week that the library takes another form, events like this also happen on Valentine's Day and Halloween. Best keep a constant eye on the library as you never know when it may change!

We are very happy to have the library as such an important learning resource at the heart of the school. A huge thank you to Mrs Earnshaw, Mrs Rattray, and to the student librarians for your continued care to the library, making it a very enjoyable, supportive area for all the other students, whether they are reading or studying. Or maybe even to those taking a nap on a beanbag in the corner.
