On Thursday 5th July we held a full school Pōwhiri with the support of Ngāi Tahu to welcome Christine O’Neill to our school. Mrs O’Neill will take up her position of Principal in Term 3.

The Pōwhiri was on opportunity to bring together Mrs O’Neil’s whānau and previous kura, St Thomas of Canterbury College and welcome them to our Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Wairoa whānau.

During the Pōwhiri, Mrs O’Neill was presented with a kahu huruhuru (feather cloak) that she can wear during her time as our Principal.

We look forward to the future working alongside Mrs O’Neill and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Peter Sawyer for stepping into the Acting Principal role for the last two terms.

Mr Sawyer’s hard work, commitment, support and dedication to our school has been very much appreciated.
