Two Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora students have received outstanding recognition for their music talents.

Music Composition Excellence

Estella Wallace from Year 13 has been selected to attend the 2022 Nelson Composers Workshop from July 6th-10th.

To be selected, Estella had to submit a composition. Her woodwind quartet 'Absolute Chaos' was met with great enthusiasm! She will be able to have the work performed and workshopped with advice given by expert composers.

This is a tremendous achievement for such a young composer and shows the talent and potential that Estella possesses.

We look forward to hearing great things about Estella in the future!

Music performance Excellence

Charlotte Cotton of Year 13 performed a solo with the Christchurch Youth Orchestra, last Saturday night, May 21st. 

Her performance of Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen was superb and is a testament to her skill and expertise. 

Sarasate was a composer who was known for his difficult and exciting violin compositions, so for Charlotte to perform it to this standard is a testament to her ability.
