Water Polo

Rachael Cleeve —

Last week from the 24th to the 28th of November, the Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora water polo team competed at the Junior South Island Secondary Schools competition.

This was held at Jellie Park and Taiora QEII Sports and Recreation Centre. This team was captained by Sophia Devereux.

The group displayed a great attitude and exceptional sportsmanship. The team was placed in the top 4 after 2 days. Here, they competed against Rangi Ruru Girls’ School for 3rd and 4th Place. This game was very intense with it ending in a draw 6-6. A penalty shootout decided our result.

The team ended up 4th after a great tournament. A big thank you to Mr Devereux, our parent helper, and all teachers helping to make this tournament go ahead.
