Ako Leaders are chosen by their ako class to represent and support the ako class. This role involves:

• Role modelling: Demonstrate respect, responsibility, and care for others at all times

• Welcoming new students: Help new members feel included and supported

• Communication link: Act as a bridge between the ako class and the ako teacher

• Monitoring wellbeing: If there is any concern, unhappiness, or unrest within the ako class, inform the ako teacher promptly so the situation can be addressed

• Administrative tasks: Assist with notices, reminders, holding the evacuation marker, and collecting information when required

• Organising activities: Support class events, celebrations, and initiatives that strengthen ako connections

• Encouraging participation: Motivate classmates to engage in ako activities and uphold school values
