Principal's Message

Christine O'Neill —

Tēnā koutou katoa parents, caregivers and whānau

It is always surprising how quickly a school week goes by and this week is no exception. It has been a very busy, varied and at times challenging week.

We have had a large number of students, both in Christchurch and around the country participating in tournament week activities. As the newsletter goes out our 1st XI cricket team have won their final, our volleyball team is playing their final in Palmerston North, our Waterpolo team is playing another round in their competition and our rowing crews are competing in their finals today and tomorrow - some already having achieved national success and personal best achievements. There are more details on our students’ achievements and successes within this newsletter and we will communicate further details next week. All of our teams have participated with pride, shown great sportspersonship and given 100% in their efforts. I am very proud of them and they should be proud of themselves.

I am also proud of the courage shown by many of our students this week in speaking up for themselves in what can be a difficult and challenging area in which to do so. You will be aware through my email, of the occurrences of this week. We are here to fully support these young people and we are working with them on how to best get their voices heard and achieve positive change for the future. I will be sending out a more detailed communication on this in the next few days as will our Board of Trustees.

Have a safe and good weekend.

Ngā mihi nui
