The IT Committee is your senior team for student led tech support, coordinating and facilitating the use of technologies within the school. Alongside our regular Levono maintenance and loan services, we’ve worked on developing ideas for a tech help magazine initiative, that we hope will continue to grow in the coming year. 

Open Day this year was a busy time for us working alongside the Cyclone IT group to introduce prospective students to our school systems. 

It has been such a pleasure to embrace my part in the Girls’ High community taking on the role of IT Prefect this year, coordinating and facilitating technical support for students and staff alike. My focus this year has been to broaden our support services to all areas across the school - not just the online digital support that we offer so well through our enthusiastic IT Committee and Tech Angel groups. 

We all know how crazy things can be when those pesky tech emergencies come along, and I can tell you our student-led technical support crew are all too familiar with this and eagerly bring our technical knowledge and skills to assist in the use of technologies throughout the school. 

This year has seen the establishment of a new student-led sound and lighting tech team to assist with setup for school events and performances in our Performing Arts Centre. I’m so proud of how far this team has come, rising to the challenge of running tech for internal Drama assessments, Music concerts and Performing Arts showcases - we’ve all grown so much together under the eager support of staff and tutors. 

While it may have been a year of constant corridor running and mic battery drainage, those moments of relief and satisfaction, when an event goes to plan or a solution pays off, have made every second worth it and I wouldn’t have had it any other way - armfuls of cables and all.
