Christine O'Neill, Principal —

It is that busy but nice time of the year as we head towards the final week of the 2022 school year.

Seniors completed all NCEA examinations yesterday and only juniors have been on site in the last few weeks which creates a more relaxed atmosphere. On the warm days the Years 9 and 10s have made full use of the space enjoying our beautiful grounds and relaxing at break times outside. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree is twinkling in the foyer with growing food parcels below. Please encourage and support our students where it is possible to bring food donations from home to place under the tree. Towards the end of next week we will be taking this collection to the City Mission food bank for distribution to families in need. Thinking of others in the spirit of the Christmas season is an important value for our students and they can make a real difference in the lives of others at this challenging time by giving.

Year 10 students complete their series of camps today. Thank you to all the staff who have been away with them enabling this fantastic experience to be available. I gather the weather has been varied from hot and clear blue skies to rain and snow flurries! The camps are a very valuable time for friendship and culture building, for stepping outside comfort zones and growing as human beings, and for appreciating the amazing environment we have in Aotearoa. We are so lucky to be able to access mountain to sea in a relatively short time and to experience the beauty of the land which is part of the DNA of everyone who lives in this country.

Next Friday we hold our end of year junior prizegiving in the gymnasium at 9am to 10.30am approximately. Parents are most welcome to attend. Please make sure you have RSVPed to Mrs Peawini (Assistant Principal) if you have not already done so if you wish to attend. (Click here to RSVP). This assists us with our seating planning. We look forward to celebrating the year of growth and achievement of all our young people with you.
