On 4th August, our Senior A netball, basketball and first XI hockey teams, travelled down to Timaru for the annual quad tournament.

The tournament consists of four schools, providing their top teams for a series of matches throughout the day. The four schools are Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora, Timaru Girls' High School, Waitaki Girls High School and Avonside Girls' High School. It is a great day for our girls to experience, and get a tournament like day heading into the South Island Secondary Schools competitions.

Our netball team had their first match against the tough Waitaki Girls High School. With an even score in the first half, Christchurch Girls High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora pulled away for the win 57-33. Their second game was against Timaru Girls' High School, which Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora won comfortably 64-14. Their third match was a hard battle against Avonside Girls' high. With only ever getting the lead by 1 or 2, or girls knuckled down to pull away and take the win 39-27.

First game = AVSG v CGHS - Win to AVSG 55-51

Second game = TGHS v CGHS - Win to CGHS 76-33

1st - AVSG, 2nd CGHS, 3rd TGHS

Our basketball team had two tough games, as WGHS basketball girls could not make it. Their first game was against Avonside Girls' High School who proved to be a strong side, just taking the win over our girls 55-51. Their next game was against TGHS, where our girls finished with a 76-33 win.

First game = AVSG v CGHS - Win to CGHS 5-0

Second game = WGHS v CGHS - Win to CGHS 12-0

Third game = TGHS v CGHS - Win to CGHS 5-0

1st - CGHS, 2nd AVSG, 3rd TGHS, 4th WGHS

Overall - 1st CGHS, 2nd AVSG, 3rd = TGHS/WGHS

Our hockey team had their first match against AVSG, taking the win 5-0 followed by a 12-0 win against WGHS. Their final game was a 5-0 win against TGHS. A very successful day for our hockey team!

Overall Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora took first place, bringing the trophy home once again. Avonside Girls' High School placed second followed by a tie for third place between Timaru Girls' High School, Waitaki Girls High School. Once again, another great day for our Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora girls.
