Mt Hutt Trip

On Monday 29 th July 6.30am, the Year 12 Tourism group travelled to the Mt Hutt Ski field tolook at a local winter tourist attraction. The girls were shown around the buildings, explained to how the general operations of the field on and off the season work and whatNZ Ski are doing in the area to make it more sustainable. The students were also able toexperience this popular winter attraction by hiring ski gear, having a ski lesson and skiing forhalf the day.

Akaroa Trip

On Monday 5th August two Year 12 Tourism classes set off to Akaroa to discover how a small Peninsula town has become a hub for tourist activities and a key terminal for cruise ships. Unfortunately, the day was a tad windy and the Black Cat Cruise had to be cancelled. Fortunately for us we had an ex CGHS student working for Black Cat who gave us an informative talk on tourism in Akaroa. A last-minute change saw us going up the historic lighthouse and walking through the Garden of Tane. The day finished with the students completing a scavenger hunt around the streets of Akaroa.
