NZ Representatives 2019
This year thirteen students have been selected to represent New Zealand in their chosen sport.
Ruby Baynes - Sailing
Ruby sailed in the 420 World Championships in Portugal. She and her partner raced in a 6 day regatta and placed in the women’s fleet.
Steffi Burra - Judo
Steffi travelled to Hong Kong to represent New Zealand in the Hong Kong Asian Cup. She competed against thirteen other countries.
Jaidyn Busch - Athletics
Jaidyn represented New Zealand at the Australian Athletics Nationals and was placed 1st in the U20 shot put (4kg).
Lucy Cochrane - Equestrian
Lucy competed in the FEI World Dressage Challenge held in New Zealand and, later, at the Grand National Australasian Showing Championships in Sydney.
Petra Curd - McCulloughSquash
Petra was a member of the New Zealand Junior Secondary Schools’ team which competed in a Trans-Tasman schools tournament in Tauranga.
Natasha Flaszynski - Rhythmic Gymnastics
Natasha was selected in the New Zealand Junior Rhythmic team. She competed at the Australian National Championships.
Cass Hetherington - Sprint Kayaking
Cass competed in a number of events at the Asia Pacific Regatta. She was also in the U18 Canoe Sprint team that competed in the Junior Worlds held in Romania.
Freya Lodge Witham - Football
Freya was selected in the New Zealand Under 17 Women’s Football team which played in an international Under 16 tournament in Weifang City in China.
Caitlin Millard - Squash
Caitlin was a member of the New Zealand Junior Secondary Schools’ team which competed in a Trans-Tasman schools tournament in Tauranga.
Niamh Shannon - Sailing
Niamh competed in the 2019 Gill OptiAUS Championship which took place place at Sandy Bay Sailing Club, Hobart, Tasmania. She was a member of the New Zealand International Optimist Dinghy Association Girls' Development Team.
Hannah Shatford - Synchronised Swimming
Hannah represented New Zealand in the Asia Pacific Open Synchronised Swimming Championships which were held in Malaysia.
Olivia Sloan - Archery
Olivia represented New Zealand at the Youth World Championships held in Madrid. She was also a member of a 3 women team which competed at the Archery World Championships in the Netherlands.
Lauren Tucker - Archery
Lauren competed in a Trans Tasman International Competition in target and in match play.
