Choir Camp 2020

Kezia Fowler-Blyth, Head of Cantrices —

Last weekend the school auditioned choir, Cantrices, had its annual choir boot camp.

The students camped out in the staffroom filling their time with learning their new Big Sing 2020 repertoire interspersed with some very, very competitive team-building exercises like lipsyncs, marshmallows and spaghetti structure building, as well as karaoke and movie watching in the evening.

It was a fantastic chance for everyone to get to know each other better and for the choir culture to grow in ways not possible without experiences such as this. With the Big Sing coming up very quickly in June, a headstart on learning the pieces - and the tricky pronunciation of Latin, Sámi, and Bulgarian that comes with them - was invaluable. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about each other and form bonds that will last forever. It’s fair to say that this camp will become a tradition with the choir and will continue to enable Cantrices to better itself for years to come.
