We are pleased to be able to offer students of Y9 the opportunity to take Speech and Drama lessons after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Why learn Speech and Drama?

Learning Speech and Drama builds confidence, encourages creativity and develops life skills.

Skills covered include the following:

  • Voice and Speech – Exercises to develop skills in relaxation, breathing, voice production, articulation, resonance and modulation.
  • Public Speaking – How to prepare and present extempore-style talks, impromptu speaking, social speaking (e.g. introducing/thanking guest speakers), interviewing
  • Poetry – Interpret and present poems
  • Drama – Scripted, devised, mime, improvisation and role play
  • Reading Aloud – prepared and sight reading.
  • Exams: Students have the option to sit exams.
  • Competitions: Students are able to compete in the Christchurch Competitions, held each July holidays.
