UC Cup Victory

Craig Thornhill, TIC Rugby —

After winning the South Island Girls' title on Saturday, our 1st XV played in the Canterbury region final - the UC Cup - against Darfield.

CGHS has won every UC Cup Final since its inception and yesterday was no different. A skilled, powerful and confident CGHS side battered Darfield 109-7. Jorja Miller starred before being rested in the 2nd half but all of the girls put in excellent performances. Special praise goes to Mele Fifita for some strong ball running and a few very powerful tackles, Charlotte Allen and Jaidyn Busch for their line-breaking ability and the Cochrane sisters Mia and Harriet for their accurate passing and kicking in the CGHS backline.

Next week the CGHS U15 side will try and retain the U15 Tournament Trophy and the 1st XV will travel to Palmerston North for the Top Four National Finals. Our semi-final on Friday is against Onehunga High School. The other two teams competing are Hamilton Girls' High and St Mary's (Wellington).
