Theatresports 2021

Abi Rainey —

This year for Theatresports has been a great success.

Our senior team (Gwyn Walker, Tilly Walbom, Emily McVicar, Ffion Young and Bella Spillane) put in an amazing amount of effort and confidence into their heat, making the final for the first time in over a decade. They chose two very difficult games for the final, taking the judges advice after walking away with the first perfect score in the competition. In a very male-dominated final, the team performed confidently and once again scored highly in Shakespeare.

Both junior teams competed impressively and confidently in this year's competition. In the first heat, Lily Saunders, Charlotte Borocoskie, Lucy Dawson, Bethany Sutcliffe and Kate Bennett performed with confidence and enthusiasm, embracing all the challenges thrown at them to create some great scenes. Likewise, our team in the next heat, Ellie Busfield, Apollo Ferry, Holly Ross, and Daisy Aaron, impressed with their energy, dynamic scenes, and engaging characters. After coaching them throughout the year with the help of the other seniors, I was so proud of their improvement and skill. I can confidently say that CGHS Theatresports will be seeing a lot more of the finals in the future.

After being the leader for the last two years, it has been so rewarding seeing the club grow and flourish after not existing for so many years. It will be hard leaving a club that has brought me so much joy, but this year has been so successful that I am confident I have left it in very capable and caring hands.
