Earlier this week, Tuesday/Wednesday 21/22 November, Christchurch Girls’ High School/ Te Kura o Hine Waiora’s junior tennis players headed to Wilding Park for the Canterbury year 9 and 10 Tennis Championships.

There were 11 of our players contesting doubles and singles in the separate year 9 and 10 grades.

All players competed well, with some winning their first matches and progressing to the second round. Those who were not successful proceeded to the consolation draws.

Results were as follows:

Year 10 Singles

• Casi Marchis 6th
• Jenna Russell 7th 
• Libby Stronach  8th

Year 10 Doubles

• Charlotte Bealing and Grace Taylor made the semifinal

Year 9 Singles

• Ayla Veendrick  6th

Also competing and having some great close matches:

Grace Taylor, Amelia Rose, Amelia Burra, Juliet Ensor and Phoebe Collie.
