New Staff and New Name for Learning Support

CGHS Publication —

2019 has seen new staff changes and a new name, Learning Enhancement, which we hope will reflect the help and support we offer all students at CGHS.

This year Mrs Anja Naughton is again working with Year 9 -Year 11 students and also teaching a Year 9 Mathematics class. She also has experience in working with Gifted & Talented students and for several years has worked as the lead teacher at the “One Day School” here in Christchurch.

Two new teacher aides, Mrs Elizabeth McElrea and Miss Hannah Sansom have joined the team this year, with Miss Jo Day also returning to work with us again. Elizabeth has a background in teaching Secondary English, as well as work in publishing. Hannah has a degree in Psychology and Education, is finishing her Master’s degree in Child and Family Psychology and also has a strength in Mathematics. Jo has a Science Degree and also a background in Business Administration. She and Mrs Pauline Grogan-Henderson have been working together to process the Special Assessment Conditions (SAC) applications for students this term. Mrs Grogan-Henderson also works with Year 12 and Year 13 students, including students who require more Literacy Credits for University Entrance.

Staff at Learning Enhancement are also involved as reader/writers for students who have SAC for their internal assessments, school examinations and NZQA external examinations. If you would like to discuss your daughter’s learning needs in the junior or senior school, please contact the HOD, Pauline Grogan-Henderson, at ghp@cghs.school.nz .
