#HTGS Hunt The Good Stuff

CGHS Publication —

At times like these, it can be easy to focus on the things that we don't have, rather than the things that we do have.

Hunting the Good Stuff is a skill that helps you to create positive emotion by noticing and analysing what is good in your life. This is important, because we tend to focus on what isn’t good – it’s called the “negativity bias.”

Here are three easy steps to start hunting the good:

  • 1. Identify three things that went well during your day.
  • 2. Write them down, or share with someone close to you.
  • 3. Reflect on why each thing happened, what each good thing means to you, what you can do tomorrow to enable more of that good thing, and what ways you or others contribute to this good thing.

Countering the negativity bias helps build optimism, and that leads to other benefits such as better health, better sleep, better relationships, and greater life satisfaction...and takes our minds off the endless COVID-19 information we are bombarded with on our newsfeeds.

Wouldn't it be awesome if people started posting about #htgs to brighten up our day? Our challenge for you is to post something that reflects the 'good stuff' in your life each day during the lockdown period and don't forget to include the #htgs and #cghs!
