Mission To Help Refugee Families Feel Welcome In Christchurch

Rosa Righton and Jessica Shearer —

Hello, in our Year 9 English class we have been studying about refugees and how there are going to be new families coming to live in Christchurch, they all come from war torn countries like Syria, Afghanistan and Eritrea.

In class we have been brainstorming ways to welcome these families, so we have come up with the idea of making some welcome packs to get them the basics they need and also just some things to make them feel right at home.

We would appreciate if you would consider donating some necessities to help us welcome these lovely families coming. We will organise a donation box outside the red desk for you to come and drop off your items on Monday 12th, Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th with an aim to have the packs ready for the arriving families on the 16th August. Some of the things could include: Traditional New Zealand food, baby supplies, toiletries, school bags for children, books, games and toys e.g soft toys. These items would help us a lot on our mission to help these families feel welcome in Christchurch.

Kind Regards

9 Kauri
