Winter Season Comes To An End ……. Tournament Week Is Up Next ……
Last week was the end of Wednesday winter sport, Friday basketball and hockey, and Saturday netball for most teams.
We have had many students participating and have been mostly lucky with the weather – apart from last Wednesday when we were hit with rain and hail just as teams were traveling to their games!
Thank you to everyone who has helped out during the winter season – teachers and caregivers who help with transport; coaches and managers who put in many hours taking training and on the sidelines; officials who volunteer their time to make sure matches can take place; students who commit to their sport and represent Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora with pride.
Our teams have had much success, and we hope this continues into tournament week, next week.
Here is where the action will be:
Badminton – four players will be contesting the Canterbury Badminton Champs at Badminton Hall in Christchurch.
Basketball Junior A Team - will be in Dunedin competing in the Zone 4 Junior tournament.
Basketball Senior A Team - will be in Dunedin competing in the Zone 4 AA tournament.
Climbing Team – will be in Christchurch competing in the South Island Secondary Schools tournament.

Hockey 1st XI team - will be in Christchurch competing in the Federation Cup tournament. This tournament starts on Monday and is at Nga Puna Wai.
Hockey 2nd XI team - will be in Ashburton competing in the Chris Arthur Cup tournament.
Ice Hockey players – we have three players competing in Dunedin in the South Island Secondary Schools tournament. They are in composite teams; one for Burnside High School and two for St Andrew’s College.

Rugby 1st XV team – will travel to Palmerston North to compete in the Top 4 1st XV Championships.

We wish everyone a successful and fun week. Some supporters will be lucky enough to be on the sidelines; others will watch live streams and support from afar.
Exciting times for all these teams and individuals!
