Cyclists

CGHS Publications —

Helmets are compulsory for all students when cycling to and from school and during school activities. Helmets must be clearly named.

Students travelling by bicycle along Fendalton Road must not attempt a right-hand turn against the flow of traffic. Instead, riders should continue to the end of Fendalton Road, dismount at the Avon Bridge before the traffic lights, and cross using the pedestrian crossing. Students may then cycle along the path beside the river to school, which is a designated cycle track.

Students cycling via Harper Avenue are required to enter the cycle track inside the fence where it begins and use the cycle crossing to access the Deans Avenue cycle track, which runs alongside the Avon River and Christchurch Girls’ High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora.

A continuous cycle track is available from Mona Vale to St James Park, Papanui, providing a safe cycling route for students.
