Business Mentors Wanted for 2025

Rebecca Taylor —

The Year 13 Business Studies course is looking for volunteers to mentor our students participating in the Young Enterprise Scheme.

The time commitment is very flexible, but we envisage initially a fortnightly meeting with your group and this tapering off to a monthly meeting. These can be conducted face-to-face, online and either here at our kura or off-site.

If you have been a mentor in the past or if you would like to contribute your business knowledge and experience, please contact either Rebecca Taylor (tar@cghs.school.nz ) or Sue Boyd (bys@cghs.school.nz).

The girls form a company and will go through all the stages of product design, manufacturing and marketing with a focus on innovation, sustainability and potential profitability. Your role may be as an advisor, a facilitator, or a motivator as you guide the girls on their pathway to success. You might even be surprised by the rewards you gain yourself! The students definitely value your guidance.

I get great satisfaction out of being a Mentor especially when I see the untainted ideas coming forward, on how or what they have, as ideas to make a successful business. As I am of an older generation it is great to see the enthusiasm and energy especially when they have come up with an idea and how they are going to make it all work and to see how they solve each problem as it arises.”
