Two of our Christchurch Girls’ High School/ Te Kura o Hine Wiaora students participated in the Surf Rescue New Zealand IRB Championships over three days, 22nd - 24th March.

The event took place at Waikouaiti and Ella Hall Oates and Lucy Ryan competed for Spencer Park Surf Club, as a team. Ella was the driver and Lucy the crew person. This was their first season competing at a national level. The two students competed in the events below; they had a goal to make a semifinal.

Lucy and Ella represented their club very well.

• U19 Female - Tube Rescue - they achieved semifinals - 20 teams
• U19 Female - Assembly Rescue - 20 teams
• U19 Female - Mass Rescue - 20 teams
• U19 Female - Single Rescue 20 teams
