2021 Senior Prizegiving

CGHS Publication —

The impact of Covid that we have all experienced all year in terms of cancelling or modifying significant sporting and cultural events has also significantly affected what we can organise in terms of prizegiving events.

While we would like to be able to hold our annual prizegiving at Christchurch Boys High School, the Ministry of Education has been explicitly clear in its communications regarding not being able to hold large or whole school events or invite parents, caregiver and whānau to these events. This is very disappointing as both our senior prizegiving events are one of the highlights of the year. What we will be holding are student only year group prizegiving events here at school during the day on Thursday 11 November. We are looking at livestreaming these events so that whanau can join us in some small way. We are hoping that the situation may have changed by early December and that we can hold our regular junior prizegiving event with whānau able to join us on site.

The following is a summary of the week 8 – 12 November showing the date and times of each of the year group prizegivings:

Monday 8 November

Timetables classes & senior clearance

Tuesday 9 November

Timetabled Classes & Senior Clearance; Pink Day

Wednesday 10 November

Timetabled classes & Year 11 - 13 NZQA Briefings

Thursday 11 November

Period 1 & 2 (8.40am - 10.40am)

Year 13 Prizegiving & Graduation

Students will released from school to go on study leave following a morning tea.

Period 4 (12.00pm - 1.00pm)

Year 12 Prizegiving

Students will released from school to go on study leave following the prizegiving.

Period 5 (1.40pm - 2.40pm)

Year 11 Prizegiving

Students will be released from school to go on study leave following the prizegiving.

We just want to reiterate that we are very disappointed that we cannot have our usual event acknowledging the achievements of our senior students but do hope you are able to join us via the livestream. Let’s hope the situation in 2022 is more certain and settled.
