Studying Year 9 Visual Arts offers numerous benefits, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and cultural insights. The Year 9 Visual Arts explores: Digital Photography, Printmaking, Painting, Design, Drawing and Art History.

Drawing and developing ideas is seen as a fundamental requirement of further study in Art and considerable emphasis is given to it at this level. Students continue to explore the work of artists from New Zealand and other cultures and eras.

This course provides a sound foundation for Year 10 Art, 11 Art and later studies in Architecture, Industrial, Fashion, Typographic, Interior or Graphic Design, Advertising, Digital Photography, Fine Arts and Art History at tertiary level.

Course Costs

Stationery costs will range from: $10.00 - $35.00 depending on what equipment a student may already have.

Please be aware that this course has associated costs. By selecting this course, you will be requested to make contributions connected to its delivery. These costs for specialist art materials are: $20.00.

Each student will receive print credit for completed work. For all extra printing, students will need to purchase print credit. Each student will also be provided with access to Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).
