Photography - Level 3
Qualification: NCEA Level 3
Entry requirements: NCEA Art Level 2 Photography. Exceptions may be made only in consultation with the HOD Art. It is highly recommended that students have their own SLR digital camera. A very limited number of cameras are available for school use.
Content/Skills: Students will be examined on their practical knowledge of digital photographic procedures. Candidates will be required to present a thematic study of subject matter and to show through work such as compositional notes, proofs, sequences of working prints and finished prints, evidence of their understanding of photography as picture making using digital media.
Students wishing to pursue a career in any of the fields of Visual Arts (Architecture, Advertising, Illustration, Film, Interior or Graphic Design, Digital Photography) are prepared for tertiary study.
Field Trips: Museums and galleries.
Stationery costs will range from: $40.00 - $60.00 depending on what equipment a student may already have.
Each student will be provided with access to Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and print credit for completed work for the formative and summative assessments. For all extra printing students will need to purchase print credit.
Students also have the possibility of outsourcing the final work for the External Portfolio. This cost will be: $81.00

2 Internal Achievement Standards worth 8 credits
1 External Achievement Standard worth 14 credits
