Christchurch Girls' High School/Te kura o Hine Waiora fencing students had great success at the Canterbury Secondary School Championships.

Our students competed in both the individual events and in the team events, producing some outstanding results in both the Saturday and Sunday competitions.

During the Saturday competition Kate Bennett gained first place in the Canterbury Secondary School Women’s Novice Foil, Rebecca Yin came 2nd and Sophia Falta came 3rd.

In the Sunday competition, Sera Cox gained first place in the Canterbury Secondary School Women’s Épée while Ilona McLachlan was third equal, Millie Sarjent was 6th, Rebecca Yin was 7th, Kate Bennett was 9th and Sophia Falta placed 10th.

Sera, Ilona, Sophia and Rebecca came 3rd in the Mixed Teams competition but were the 1st overall Girls Team.

Our students certainly did themselves proud!
