Last weekend the CGHS fencing students had great success at the Mid-South Secondary Schools Fencing Championships. Our students competed in both the individual events and in the team events, producing some outstanding results.

Sera Cox gained first place in the Women’s Foil and the Women’s Épée. Ilona McLachlan was second in the Women’s Épée. Ingrid Kosaka was third in the Women’s Foil, third equal in the Novice Mixed gender Foil and ninth in the Women’s Épée.

Sera, Ilona and Millie Sarjeant won the Women’s Épée Teams Event and Sera and Ingrid formed a composite team with StAC to place second in the Mixed gender Foil team’s event.

With so many competitions and tournaments having to be cancelled this year, the results produced at the weekend were a fantastic way to finish the fencing year.
