Content/Skills: This course will encourage students to

  • study a variety of short written texts 
  • write in a variety of contexts 
  • read and view a range of texts 
  • develop their skills in language use and analysis
  • develop their presenting skills


ENS 202 - Short and Scene

This course is for students who are interested in the study of short written texts and visual texts. Short written texts may include short stories, poetry and short non-fiction texts. Students will have the chance to create a visual text.

Field Trips:  Class teachers may organise outings for their classes throughout the course of the year.

Possible Course Costs: Students are encouraged to purchase any texts required for this course. There are stationery costs associated with this course.  Class teachers may organise performances for their classes throughout the course of the year, and may ask for a contribution to help cover costs.

Where does it lead? NCEA Level 3.

To meet the University Entrance literacy requirement students must gain 5 credits in writing and 5 credits in reading at NCEA Level 2 or above. Level 2 English offers a range of internal and external standards that contribute towards this requirement.
