Netball Talk With Erikana Pederson

Sarah Smith, Year 12 —

On the 1st of September, a group including players, managers and coaches from the Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora A & B netball teams were very fortunate to have the guest speaker Erikana Pederson talk to us via Google Meet.

For those unfamiliar with Erikana Pederson, she was a player for the Mainland Tactix and made her Silver Ferns debut at the Constellation Cup in 2018. With both of these tremendous accomplishments under her belt, she shared her inspirational netball life story about how she overcame adversity in her netball career, from injuries to burnout, to finally reach where she aspired to be.

We were privileged to have this opportunity to acquire this wonderful perspective from such a remarkable sportswoman. I know that from now on, until the end of my netball development, I personally will constantly remember and appreciate her words of wisdom.

A special thanks to School Sport Canterbury and Mrs Brown for the help in setting up this opportunity for us, as well as, of course, Erikana Pederson!
