This year we welcomed students from China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Chile and Mexico to study with us.

Lockdown was quite the challenge but many spent this time getting to know their homestay families really well participating in family walks and cooking challenges. Online learning was a new experience for many and they rose to the challenge however they were very happy to back in the classrooms in May. 

As the year progressed and we went up and down levels our students were able to participate in many normal student activities and sports here at Christchurch Girls’ High and have done incredibly well to be studying in a foreign country in the middle of a global pandemic.

They managed to make good friends and memories to take back home with them when they return. Many of our International students will be staying in New Zealand over summer so they can continue to study with us in 2021. This means many of them have not seen their families face to face for almost a year. 

We know that they will enjoy a Kiwi Christmas and hope that they enjoy their summer in New Zealand.
