This annual competition is run by the English department and requires students to answer an essay question with reference to Shakespearean texts.

All students chose to argue in favour of the Bard’s work being taught in New Zealand schools and many discussed how it was now important to view his texts through a feminist or a 21st century lens. A huge thank you to those students who entered this year. The quality of work you produce made the decision process a difficult one. A special congratulations goes to our 2020 winners:
