Selwyn House 2019

Jessica Anderson —

This year Selwyn House was loud and proud.

In 2019, school spirit has grown significantly which meant that Selwyn had lots of girls keen to participate in house events.

The introduction of the Top House event at the very beginning of the year for Year 9 and 10 students was a huge icebreaker which introduced school and house spirit and promoted participation and pride for Selwyn House. From this moment, the tone for 2019 was set and it was evident that Selwyn was going to have a fun year.

On Athletics Day, green was able to be seen everywhere you looked. Whether it was on or off the track, Selwyn girls supported each other and their House with our Selwyn chant was being heard loudly from all corners of the stadium. Selwyn had great success on Athletics Day and received the award for the top house on Athletics Day.

The biggest House event of the year, Lip Sync, was a great success for all houses. Around 60 Selwyn girls were on stage performing and even more Selwyn girls got involved in other areas such as tech, costumes, and choreography. Selwyn’s theme this year was ‘Back To The Future’ where we travelled through the musical decades. If it was not for the dedication to rehearsals and contribution of ideas from all year groups, Selwyn would not have had the success and more importantly the FUN which we shared in the process.

Overall, Selwyn has had a great year, thanks to all the girls who were involved in the house activities, especially the House committee and Deputy Leader, Emily Shaw, and House teacher, Ms James, who have all helped instill spirit and pride in our house.
