On Thursday we had a group of runners compete at the Canterbury Cross Country Championships at Ascot Park. The weather conditions were perfect, with no wind and mild conditions making for a great afternoon.

Four of our six runners placed in the top 20 within their respective age groups. Kate Currie ran in the Senior Girls’ age group this year for the first time as a Year 11 and took out the title for 1st Senior Girl.

This was an exceptional effort and I know will have inspired some of our younger runners to continue to work hard in their training. We wish Kate all the best for her preparations for the National Cross Country Championships which are taking place in the middle of June in Nelson.
