Qualification: NCEA Level 3

Entry requirements: Year 12 Te Reo Māori.

Content/Skills: This course builds on vocabulary and structures from previous years. The four key language skills i.e pānui, kōrero, tuhituhi and whakarongo are further developed by studying topics such as; ngā waiata, ngā poropiti Māori, ngā kōrero o neherā me te ao torangapu. This course has a focus on ensuring the extension of the social competence of students when using Te Reo Māori in real life situations.

Assessment:

Internal Achievement Standards: 10 credits in total. (Comprising of a listening and written portfolio)

External Achievement Standards: 6 credits in total. (Comprising of a reading examination) 

This course offers 6 UE Reading and 6UE Writing credits.

Where does it lead? Tertiary level studies of Te Reo Māori and many career opportunities where an the Māori language is used.
