Black Ferns In The House

Maria Daly —

Last Friday we were fortunate to have Black Ferns Charmaine McMenamin, Grace Steinmetz and Georgia Ponsonby visit Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora to talk to our rugby players.

Team captain Eliza Dalzell and vice-captain Rylee Munro had prepared a series of questions that varied from what inspired them to become Black Ferns through to their favourite indulgence food. Charmaine, Grace and Georgia openly discussed the highs and lows of being part of the Black Ferns.

The obvious highs are being selected and winning games but they also talked about injury and the pressure that comes with being a professional athlete. There was also an opportunity for the wider Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora squad to ask questions and then to get photos with the players.

A big thank you to Charmaine, Grace and Georgia for giving up their time.
