Drama - Level 2

Qualification: NCEA Level 2

Entry requirements:

NCEA Drama Level 1. Exceptions may be made only in consultation with the HOD Drama. 

Ākonga will need black trousers/track pants and a long sleeved black T-shirt for performance work.

Content/Skills: The course starts looking at Oscar Wilde's, Importance of Being Earnest. Ākonga pick a scene to perform showing their understanding of the theatre form, Comedy of Manners. They then perform a class production to the community. The year finishes with ākonga devising their own performance and an external examination based upon theatre experiences. 

There may also be opportunities for workshops and external visits.

Field Trips: In order to sit the external paper, ākonga are required to write about a production they have seen that year. This may include performances at The Court Theatre, Hagley Theatre, NASDA and/or school productions.

Course Costs: Workshop costs when applicable, plus theatre ticket costs.

Assessment:

3 Internal Achievement Standards worth 14 Credits

1 External Achievement Standard worth 4 Credits

This course offers 14 UE Reading credits and 4 writing credits
