10 Piwakawaka and 10 Pukeko have been studying the theme of aiming high in their English classes and looking at ways to give back to the community.

They felt strongly about helping young people in their local area, so Cholmondeley House was an obvious choice.

The students looked at Cholmondeley House’s wishlist and wrote to local businesses to request their support.

10 Piwakawaka donated the following:

• $500 cash from Extrastaff
• $200 from the staff at CGHS
• Craft books from Hands Craft Store
• Beads from Beadz Unlimited
• $50 voucher from Mitre 10 MEGA

10 Pukeko made an incredible contribution:

• $2000 Countdown voucher
• A scooter and helmet from Torpedo 7
• A hamper of gifts for the young people at Cholmondeley House
• Lip balm, hand cream and insect repellent donated from Bargain Chemist

Tanya, from Cholmondeley House, visited our class to receive the donation and the students were able to hear how their donation will make a difference. 10 Piwakawaka and 10 Pukeko’s commitment to the community is admirable.
