The Christchurch Girls’ and Christchurch Boys’ High School Concert Band had a great year. We had seven Girls’ High students involved this year, and as usual had a lot of fun! We played contemporary music like ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and ‘Hallelujah’ as well as film-style music like ‘Summon the Heroes’ and a Pirates of the Caribbean Medley.

We rehearsed every Thursday morning at 7:45, working towards concerts and competition. We first played in a combined CGHS and Cashmere concert, which was a great practice for our upcoming Concert Band Festival competition. In this competition we earned ‘Best Trombone Section’ for the second year in a row, as well as gaining a Silver Award! Mr Chapman (the Concert Band director) was a great leader and a superb conductor as usual, and we would like to thank him for another great year of music!
