Chinese Language Week - nǐ hǎo
New Zealand Chinese Language Week (NZCLW) is a Kiwi-driven initiative that promotes Chinese language learning in New Zealand. It is popular around schools, libraries, and communities to enhance Chinese language skills in New Zealanders. We celebrated Chinese language week this week in the library. Our student librarians made an amazing display on Chinese Language week in our school library. The celebration is a way to foster a sense of community, embrace diversity, and celebrate the rich tapestry of languages and cultures that weave us together. Lanterns and posters were displayed around the library.
Women's Suffrage Week 2023
Women's suffrage in New Zealand was a significant political issue in the late 19th century. New Zealand became the first self-governing country to empower women or give women the right to vote on 19 September 1893. This week we celebrated women's suffrage week in the library. Our librarians made an amazing display on women's equality in our school library. Librarians Event - Term 3
A big shout out to the librarians who enjoyed doing fun activities during their break times this term. We distributed appreciation certificate and badges (White, Red, Blue) to them. We also gave badges to the spelling Bee participants and Battle of the Bibliophiles team B. They enjoyed their Term 3 shared lunch this week on Monday. We have an amazing library committee this year. We are hoping to get a wonderful library committee next year. If anyone from Year 11 and Year 12 is interested, please let us know: (library@cghs.school.nz) and Ngarita MacKenzie (Head Librarian).
