The Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura O Hine Waiora Equestrian Team had a fantastic year and came away with some great results as well as the satisfaction of representing the school with pride.

Unfortunately due to poor weather we missed out on the Canterbury Secondary Schools Show Jumping Day in Term 1 so the year started a little later for us with the Inter-schools Dressage Championships in April. At this event CGHS entered 3 teams, with the the Blue team (Lucy Cochrane, Maggie Copeland, Natasha Higgs and Kate Gutry) placing 4th,  the Red team placing 19th and the white team placing 21st. Some riders came away with a couple of individual placings as well.

Next we had the Secondary Schools Teams One Day Horse Trial, which was held in August at Mcleans Island. CGHS entered two teams, with the Blue team ( Lucy Cochrane, Kate Gutry, Caitlin Moran and Lucy Florance) coming away with 1st place, the first win in 18 years for CGHS, and the Red team (Holly Andrews, Emily Burrows, Eliza Dalzell and Alyssa Ward) placing 17th.

The last event for the girls was the St Margaret's, Rangi Ruru, Christchurch Girls' High School Equestrian Day held in September at Mcleans Island where CGHS sent many individual riders that came away with some great results in mounted games, unity, showing, dressage and jumping.

The results throughout the year showed that for the Christchurch Girls' High School Equestrian Team this year has been very successful throughout all disciplines. All riders gained some excellent results in their chosen discipline and represented CGHS incredibly well.  They should all be extremely proud of their efforts this year and I am sure that the CGHS Equestrian Team will only grow and create some more fantastic results in the future.
