Track Cycling
Esme Maillard (13DTP) competed at the Elite Track National Cycling Championships in Invercargill between 21-25 February. Esme achieved a Personal Best in the individual pursuit Time Trial, taking 15 seconds off her previous time, placing her 8th in New Zealand for the U19 females.
She also rode a spectacular Scratch Race and very nearly took a National Title but was caught in the final lap to finish 10th. Esme rode very well and finished only seconds behind the leaders in all races. She also placed 8 th in New Zealand for her age group in elimination (after a fall).
This is all the more remarkable as she has only been cycling just over a year and a half. Well done Esme.
