Junior Prizegiving

On December 2018 the school gym was packed with staff, students and many parents for our first ever Junior Prizegiving.

The Senior Management Team were in their full academic regalia and the tables were laden with an impressive array of cups, certificates and prizes. The prizegiving commenced with the Kapa Haka welcoming the group. Mrs Duthie addressed the crowd, delivering the inspiring words “nobody who ever gave their best regretted it.” She also spoke of the importance and value of the education and girls, a topic she is passionate about. She advised students to “Dream your dreams and then chase them.” Mrs Duthie then went on to reflect on the many and varied achievements, opportunities and contributions by students and staff in 2018. Mrs Charlotte Phoon, Year 9 Dean and Mrs Sarah Barrell, Year 10 Dean, also spoke words of inspiration to their respective year groups.  The final speakers were Stephanie Lester, the incoming Head Prefect for 2019, Sophie Bowden and the incoming Acland Prefect for 2019, Alice Ridgen.

Awards were handed out by the 2018 Head Prefect, Stephanie Lester, Sophie Bowden, Alice Ridgen, Mrs Duthie and Julian Bowden. Students were awarded for Cultural and Sporting achievements, Distinction, Academic achievements and Junior Special Awards.

There was an original and entertaining Gala performance of “Naughty” from the Musical Matilda by Susie Crawford, Zoe Lynch and Christine Martin, three talented singers. This item was definitely a favourite with the audience. Prizegiving finished with a rousing rendition of "Winter Wonderland."

What a wonderful, talented Junior School we have, and it was a joy to celebrate their many successes, both within and when representing themselves and the school. We look forward to another exciting year in 2019.
