Jessie Clark Memorial Prize for Appreciation of Jane Austen
Congratulations to all the girls who participated in this competition in Term 2.
Pride and Prejudice proved to be a popular text choice and the standard of responses was exceptionally high. The overall winner was Stephanie Lester from Year 13. Her insightful essay involved a perceptive exploration of gender roles in the text and beyond. She was also able to dissect the characters and make sound links to a contemporary audience’s perceptions too. Second place was awarded to Rosemary Walbom, in Year 12, who also demonstrated an insightful understanding of the characters. Well done girls!
