On Tuesday the Junior Alison Harper competition was held. It was fantastic to see four Year 9 students present Shakespearean monologues and extracts from Little Women.

Last term, two of our English classes (9KHT and 9RIM) wrote letters expressing their views on a wide range of social and environmental issues to MPs and the Prime Minister.

Last Sunday 9th August, Anne Clark, our Cello itinerant teacher organised our CGHS String Quartet (Charlotte Cotton, Kate Gardiner, Heather Paget and Charlie Roberts) to perform for Ellen Doyle at the Hoon Hay Village.

Across New Zealand and Australia, students and their families are experiencing challenging times, being in various stages of Alert Levels yet again.

This week in the CGHS library we have been celebrating book week and the theme has been Space and Science Fiction.

After some discussion this morning, we have made the decision to cancel our course information afternoon on Monday 17th August.

Last week our Global relations group, led by Global Relations prefect, YouRim Kang, organised International Week to promote and celebrate the many diverse cultures that make up our school community.

On Wednesday evening the top team from our in-house Readers Cup competition competed in the regional contest held at Tūranga Library.

A reminder that school starts at 9.50am on Tuesday 18th August. Staff will use this time to meet and revisit our remote teaching protocols and organise possible planning changes. We look forward to seeing students ready for a prompt start for period two.
