The main school sports days are held early in Term 1. Individual and team races are held.

House points are awarded as well as school cups.

Placegetters are selected to represent the school at inter-school and South Island championships. As well as competitions against other Christchurch schools, Christchurch Girls’ High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora exchanges sports visits with Waitaki Girls’ High School, and has a Quadrangular Tournament with Avonside, Timaru and Waitaki Girls’ High Schools.
