Cassandra Hetherington has been selected by Canoe Racing NZ for an U18 New Zealand crew to attend the Canoe Racing Junior World Championships in Romania in early August this year.

The New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Triathlon Champs took place in New Plymouth last week and Christchurch Girls’ High was lucky enough to have three girls racing.

In term 1, all Year 11 – 13 students have had an updated talk regarding expectations around NCEA for 2019. The NCEA Parent evening will be held on 7 May in the evening for those who wish to know more.

The CGHS athletics team of 21 went to Nelson for 29th , 30th and 31st of March to compete in the South Island Secondary Schools' event. The girls were very successful, with outstanding performances from everyone.

The CGHS Mountain Bike Team has had a great last week, with girls competing in both the Canterbury Schools’ Mountain Bike Champs and the South Island Secondary Schools’ Mountain Bike Champs.

On Tuesday 26 March, four members of our Senior A Basketball Squad flew to Tauranga to represent CGHS for the first time at the Secondary Schools' 3x3 Championships.

The CGHS PTA will be meeting on Monday 8 April at 7pm in the school staff room. You are all welcome to attend.

Overall individually, and as a team, we definitely peaked, played some of the best volleyball we have ever played and ended the season on an absolute high.

School BOT elections are scheduled for later this year and the New Zealand Schools Trustees Association is running information evenings for aspiring trustees.

CGHS is participating in the Entertainment fundraiser again this year and would appreciate your support.

This year’s parent teacher interviews will follow a similar structure to last year. The interviews this year will be held in the final week of Term 1 allowing you to receive personalised feedback on your daughter’s progress prior to departing for the end of term break.
